Dear Colorado Wine Club Member,

The leaves are turning, and the mornings are crisp.  Color Sunday was indeed colorful.  It’s clearly time to harvest some grapes!  Yes, it’s ripening season.  It’s been a cool growing season, so the grapes will be coming in behind schedule.  We’re still about 2 weeks behind a “normal” growing season.  With some luck and a nice Indian Summer, we’ll do just fine.

Enclosed are your Wine Club bottles.  This month’s wines for the Dry Colorado Wine Club are:

2007 Chardonnay, Carlson Vineyards

Mild yet flavorful, fruity style with no apparent oak, this is a perfectly straightforward, easy drinking Chardonnay.  You’ll notice the varietal character, but it won’t bowl you over.  There is also a slight spritz that adds to the fruity character.  This wine would be great with roasted chicken, pork chops or fish.

Palisade Red, Plum Creek Cellars

The Palisade Red is a decent wine for a decent price.  It’s a good everyday wine.  It is fairly light in body and color, with good flavor and a fair amount of mildly seasoned oak.  The nose is almost redwood.  It’s seems to have been aged for a couple of years at least.  The finish is clean but not terribly long.  The whole experience leaves you generally satisfied that this is a well-made wine.

As always, enjoy the wines in good health!

Sincerely,

Glenn & Natalie Foster
