Dear Colorado Wine Club Member,
Come and celebrate another harvest in Colorado Wine Country! We invite you to join us Saturday, November 4th for an evening of wine and appetizers. Rainer Thoma, winemaker for Garfield Estates Winery, and Jenne Baldwin of Plum Creek Cellars will pour three of their wines for your enjoyment. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet two of Colorado’s top winemakers, ask questions, and enjoy a relaxing, flavor filled evening. It’s also our way of saying thanks for your continued support. Please RSVP by Wednesday, Nov. 1st.
Enclosed are your Wine Club bottles. This month’s wines for the Dry Colorado Wine Club are:
Boulder Creek Winery 2003 Claret We stumbled across this rare wine on a recent wine scouting trip to the front range. Boulder Creek Winery is only a few years old, but has done very well so far. This claret was made by selecting the best barrels of three varieties: 55% Cabernet Franc; 30% Merlot; 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Very concentrated dark berry flavors; rich and full-bodied, with a unique spicy twang that really adds a new dimension. Drink now for a flavorful treat, or give it some cellar time – maybe 2-3 years would be about right. Either way, we think you’ll enjoy this.
Stone Cottage Cellars 2005 Syrah The 2005 Syrah from Stone Cottage is a real hit. Its older brother, the 2004, was a hit too, though much different. This one has more oak, more structure, and lots of finesse, though it’s still a huge wine. Complex layers of oak and spice interlace to make this a fabulous libation from our Delta County winery contingency. Try this with your favorite grilled steak along with steamed and buttered cauliflower, red swiss chard, sautéed mushrooms, and a baked potato with all the fixings.
As always, enjoy the wines in good health!
Sincerely,
Glenn & Natalie Foster |
