Dear Colorado Wine Club Member, So far it’s been a dry, warm start to the cold season. If this trend continues, it may spell trouble for vineyards. Dry, warm winters kill all sorts of plants in this area. Savvy growers will attempt to water the vines somehow. Don’t forget to put St. Kathryn Cellars and Meadery of the Rockies in your holiday shopping plans. We offer your wine club discounts at these locations also. Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! Enclosed are your Wine Club bottles. This month’s wines for the Dry Colorado Wine Club are: 2006 Cabernet Franc, Garfield Estates This Cabernet Franc is bright and light-to-medium bodied with soft tannins. It has hints of plum and a lingering finish. Cabernet Franc is typically used to blend with other wines. Winemakers are now bringing it out on its own, and it is standing strong alongside the other Bordeaux varieties. Try this wine with heavy, meat-based hors d’oeuvres. Cabernet Sauvignon, Whitewater Hill Add this to the list of great wines from Whitewater Hill! It is bursting with dark cherry flavor in the mouth, with hints of eucalyptus and cherry in the nose. This is a smooth and full-bodied wine. Look for nuances of smoke and leather leading to a chocolaty finish. Serve this wine with a good steak and pasta, and share it with friends. As always, enjoy the wines in good health! Truly,
Glenn & Natalie Foster |
