Dear Colorado Wine Club Member,

Soon a hard freeze will knock out all photosynthesis for the year and the vines will be dormant for the winter.  Most of the grapes are in now, and, from all reports, it’s been a good year.

Mark your calendars for Friday, November 11.  We’re having our first Holiday Appetizer and Wine class, featuring Master Chef Diana Tarasawiecz, founder of DMT Catering.  Diana will show us how to prepare easy, fast and delicious Holiday Appetizers.  We will be pairing these culinary delights with wines and enjoying them throughout the evening.  Our second class, on the 18th, is already full, so sign up ASAP.  For more information, call the GJ Parks and Recreation office at (970) 254-3866.

Enclosed are your October Wine Club wines.  This month’s wines for the Dry Colorado Wine Club are:

Hermosa Vineyards 2003 Merlot

Ken Dunn farms 6 acres on East Orchard Mesa.  His sweet cherries are pretty much heavenly.  We’re equally impressed with his Merlot.  It takes on some of the qualities of the cherries.  Flavorful, easygoing, fruitful, smooth and light.  Don’t let it fool you though, this wine packs a punch with roughly 15% alcohol.

Garfield Estates 2004 Syrah

This wine is one of the favorites on the lineup.  This vintage is the new release and is drinking very nicely already.  It will continue to improve with age for probably 5-10 years if you can wait that long.  If not, don’t feel bad.  Just go ahead and enjoy it.

As always, enjoy the wines in good health!

Sincerely,

 Glenn & Natalie Foster
