Dear Colorado Wine Club Member,

Has it been a month already?!  Actually, it seems much longer than that, but because we’re all revved up about our new acquisitions of Confre Cellars, St. Kathryn Cellars, and Meadery of the Rockies, we’re behind schedule and because of that, it temporarily makes it feel like time is going more quickly.  Did I ever mention I was a philosophy student?  Now you know why I gave it up!

Enclosed are your Wine Club bottles.  This month’s wines for the Sweet Colorado Wine Club are:

2006 Desert Rose, Canyon Wind

A very nicely made rosé, this wine will please a lot of palates.  It would be great by itself or with mild cheeses and fruits as an aperitif.  A mild bright pink color and a subtle nose make this an attractive wine from the start.  Get a sip in your mouth and it is mildly sweet, light in body, with good clean flavor.  The finish is short and simple.  Great for those who are beginning wine enthusiasts as well as the seasoned veteran.

2006 Late Harvest Gewürztraminer, Stoney Mesa

An unusual wine from Stoney Mesa, this Gewurtz is fabulously delicious.  It’s technically flawed in that it’s fermenting in the bottles, but it’s perfectly delectable all the same.  You can tell because it’s got a slight haze (that’s the yeast) when you turn the bottle upside down, and also because it bubbles continuously when you uncork it, particularly if it’s warm.  So . . . two strong suggestions:  1. Refrigerate this wine right away, 2. Keep the cork up, and 3. Drink this wine soon, before it blows the cork!  When you get it in your mouth, it’ll be a spectacular, rare and tasteful treat.

As always, enjoy the wines in good health!

Sincerely,

Glenn & Natalie Foster
