Dear Colorado Wine Club Member, The leaves are turning, and the mornings are crisp. Color Sunday was indeed colorful. It’s clearly time to harvest some grapes! Yes, it’s ripening season. It’s been a cool growing season, so the grapes will be coming in behind schedule. We’re still about 2 weeks behind a “normal” growing season. With some luck and a nice Indian Summer, we’ll do just fine. Enclosed are your Wine Club bottles. This month’s wines for the Sweet Colorado Wine Club are: Sweet Baby Red, Carlson Vineyards Sweet Baby Red is a great way to introduce red wine to those who don’t prefer dry reds. It may serve as an intermediate step in exploring the complex world of drier, “more serious” wines. On the other hand, it might be what you consider to be the best possible red wine you’ll ever have. It all depends on what you like. We think it’s a well-made wine, which would be no surprise coming from Parker Carlson. 2007 Riesling, Boulder Creek Winery This wine is slightly sweet with Mandarin orange notes, and a touch of yellow squash. A deep golden hue adds to the impression of depth and character. This wine would be perfect before dinner on a warm Indian Summer afternoon. Chill it well before serving, and enjoy it with mild cheeses, flatbread, grapes, kiwi wedges and olives. As always, enjoy the wines in good health! Truly,
Glenn & Natalie Foster |
