Dear Colorado Wine Club Member, This month’s wine club, though late, is as tasty and unique as the last. My sincere apologies for the tardiness. As you might imagine, with the acquisition of three wine labels and two more buildings, I’ve got armloads of challenges to wrestle. It’s now mid-November and the leaves are mostly gone from the vines by now. We’ve not been horribly cold, but still we’ve had some very nippy mornings. The vines are getting very sleepy in preparation for the cold season. We hope you had a magical Halloween and that your autumn is deeply colored in whatever fashion it can be. Enclosed are your Wine Club bottles. This month’s wines for the Sweet Colorado Wine Club are: Peaches ‘n Honey, Meadery of the Rockies This wine is one of our best sellers. It’s a blend of peach wine and honey wine, as you might guess. It’s medium sweet with a bit-o-honey in the nose and mouth. Look for that light beeswaxy character that sets our meads apart from most of the other meads on the market. You can also expect a floral and peachy nose and flavor. This is a fine sipping wine before or after dinner, or even during the meal if it pleases you! Apple Ice, Mountain Spirit Winery This may be the third appearance of the Apple Ice wine from Mountain Spirit in our Colorado Sweet Wine Club, and for good reason: it’s delicious! We can’t seem to convince the winemaker to tell us how it’s made. He will say that it’s made with some of the best apple juice you’ll find anywhere, and some careful winemaking. If you’ve not had this wine before, it’s quite sweet . . . a true dessert wine, with a potent apple aroma, flavor and finish. We like this wine after dinner with cheesy fruit tarts or warm brie drizzled with maple syrup. As always, enjoy the wines in good health! Truly,
Glenn & Natalie Foster |
